poetry slam

i competed tonight kindve off the cuff at this poetry slam for comm week at school.
i did my homework poem and the one i used in pcn, i passed the first round in the top 7 and then ended up about 4th place, i was so excited!
it gets me pumped to do more

a convo in the breakroom

"do you have any tips for life quami?
"when you have a vision, you need to pursue it."
"what if it means i have to give things up, things i love, people i love"
"bye"
"why?"
"if you dont pursue your vision, youll spend the rest of your life wondering what if i did it, aw man i didnt do it, i wish i could be doing this or that, if you want to be a rapper, a writer, a sushi tester, you need to pursue your dreams, dont sidetrack yourself, when you get there, youre there, and you did everything right. people are going to hate on you, tell you you cant do it man, you suck at singing, you arent good at tasting sushi, but you know what? let them, you dont need them, there are people who will help you, go for your dreams and stay humble."

It's funny, the relationship between boys and girls, especially when alcohol is factored in. not because it changes things, but more like because it magnifies certain aspects. in general i think people are obviously more likely to give in to their more primal wants and needs when they are intoxicated, but whats more striking to me is how different those drunk wants and needs are than the sober ones. when this disparity between drunk state and sober state exists, i almost feel like calling the person an outright liar liar pants on fire! now... this is not referring to times when they say things like you have wierd hair, or you look like daisy duck. but instead to when they admit that they cheat often, or have certain feelings about their best friends girl, or that that girl has lost feelings for the aforementioned boyfriend, and she only gets to act on them when intoxicated.

now, most of the time, this is not the case, but as they say, drunk words are sober thoughts, ive always given some credibility to this phrase, cause unless you are passed out seisure drunk, you have a semblance of an idea of what youre doing. and if its not the same thing youd do when sober, then you are confused under both situations.

in closing... i guess what im clawing to get at here folks is, dont lie to yourself, if you dont like the situation youre in sober, dont wait till youre drunk to live out the life you want. make the change so you can be like that always if it makes you happy. dont live a lie sober and the truth only lived out with drunkenness as an excuse.
